The chance to be at home with my family.
Hey Stealth
Still on the job? I remember having that same feeling when I was working abroad. Good to see you on the board. Hope all is well.
i am already thinking of ideas.
my sister had an online relationship with a man from holland (they are now married in the us) anyhow, they would send eachother packages and the coolest things he would send was different foods from there... cookies the us doesn't have, chocolate spread for toast.... this is my first gift exchange since i was a kid, so anyone have some ideas?
( is this kosher to ask?

full disclosure, i have not seen this movie but i heard its really funny.. if this story is true (maybe its a spoof piece), the people who made borat are pretty cold...and greedy.
apparently the villagers who were used in the movie didn't understand that they would be portrayed as a backward group of rapists, abortionists and prostitutes, who happily engage in casual incest when they agreed to participate in the film.
they did get paid a few bucks, but it sounds like they are really pissed off.
satan's lil helper
I wasn't commenting on the movie. I was commenting on the newspaper article. Did you actually read it? If what the article is true do you think those people were exploited?

it was l o n g. loads to think about.. .
lots of extras.
i think i watched them all.
When I'm down that way I'll take you up on that offer, Gary. Thanks.
last night i was at a friends house (ex-witnesses).
they faded several years ago, much to her parents and her children's annoyance.
her parents live out west but were coming to toronto for a visit.
Whats laughable about witnesses who shun those who smoke is that many of them are totally ignorant about why smoking is a bootable offense. When asked about smoking the typical answer relates to the health effects of smoking and the body is a temple, you know. The official reason is the society tied smoking tobacco to spiritism and demons. Afterall, if the health effects of smoking is such a great sin, wouldn't drinking, eating "unhealthy" and not exercising be equally great sins? Are Big Macs and Krispey Kremes a good thing to feed your temple?
I have a lot of relatives who show the same "love." Treat those who live "wordly" lives but were never dedicated decently, treat those living identical lives (in some cases better lives) but were dedicated like they are dead. It is crazy.
By the way, if I'm wrong on the smoking issue correct me. I don't want to be holding on to old light beliefs.

Thanks Gary. I guess the only way to find out if the DVD is appropriate jw material is to hand it to one. If upon touching it they start screaming, "IT BURNS!! IT BURNS!!!" I'll know.
On a completely different note, do you still ride? Next summer I plan on doing a couple long range trips on the Softail (east coast? west coast? both coasts?) as I kind of shortchanged myself this year. At any rate, I'm thinking I'll be in South Dakota mid-August as I haven't been to the rally in a while.

Thanks Gary. Maybe I'll buy it, watch it, then give it to a jw relative for xmas. Would an active jw consider the DVD to be appropriate viewing? I'm guessing a witness would be suspicious as the DVD wasn't made by the society.

Is this DVD worth purchasing now or should I wait to see it on PBS (I think Knocking is on PBS' spring schedule)?
i was looking through the paper this afternoon and saw that 1,500 people from 20 congregations of jehovah's witnesses in mn and wi were gathering at the convention center today.
the paper mentioned the program would feature talks, dramatizations, and discussions on how to improve family life, cope with stress and face challenges to one's faith.
the main speaker was john kikot, a longtime minister who helps supervise 1 million witnesses in the usa.
The newspaper didn't mention a second day. Maybe I should head downtown and see if anybody is enjoying the bars and eateries tonight. I really should go to the nudie bar also when I'm down there to make sure that nobody was tempted. Alright, I confess. If I did go to the nudie bar it wouldn't be to see if any dubs are in there. I did notice that the parking lot at the convention center was kind of empty. The free lot next to the playground was packed full though. Lot of people with their kids go there on the weekend but I'm sure that they will understand that witnesses can't afford to pay $3 to park when they attend conventions. The $3 would be better off in the contribution box.
Gee Shelly, give me a heads up next time. I do have the last week of December off. Don't know which direction I'll be heading.
